El Examen de competencia Teológica busca determinar la disposición del(a) candidato(a) para el ministerio en el uso de ideas teológicas bíblicas, clásicas y contemporáneas dentro de la herencia reformada de la Iglesia Presbiteriana (EE.UU.).
Este examen deberá evaluar la capacidad del(a) candidato(a) para interpretar un pasaje asignado de la Escritura mediante la demostración de la atención a la lengua original del texto, una comprensión del contexto histórico del texto, y una capacidad para relacionar el texto con eficacia a la vida contemporánea de la iglesia en el mundo.
Este examen está destinado a «evaluar el conocimiento de trabajo del(a) candidato(a) sobre la estructura constitucional de la Iglesia Presbiteriana (EE.UU.) y el método utilizado para resolver las diferencias adecuadamente y se determinan los programas para cumplir con la misión de la iglesia».
This examination is intended to “assess the candidate's working knowledge of the constitutional structure of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and the method by which differences are properly resolved and programs to fulfill the mission of the church are determined.”
This examination shall assess the candidate's ability to interpret an assigned passage of Scripture by demonstrating attention to the original language of the text, an understanding of the text's historical context, and an ability to relate the text effectively to the contemporary life of the church in the world.
This examination shall assess the candidate’s understanding of the meaning and purpose of corporate worship and the Sacraments, familiarity with the Directory for Worship and The Book of Confessions, and their application to the life of worshiping communities.
The Examination of Theological Competence seeks to determine the candidate’s readiness for ministry in the use of biblical, classical, and contemporary theological insights within the Reformed heritage of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).
