Non-profit organizations and faith based groups across the country help organize efforts to bring about change in US immigration laws, offer direct services to immigrants, and provide resources for individuals to undergird their efforts. Immigration is a national issue and requires the support and actions of people everywhere in order to be effective.
Conducted by the PC(USA) Research Services office, the U.S. Congregational Life Survey tallied responses from 40,000 worshipers in a national study of Presbyterian congregations. In the fall of 2008 and the spring of 2009 a random sample of 521 PC(USA) congregations participated in the U.S. Congregational Life Survey. The survey was given in worship and included the responses of all worshipers age 15 and older. In 2001, a random sample of 523 PC(USA) congregations participated.

Farms rely on immigrant labor to help plant, tend, and harvest the fruits and vegetables that are grown in the US. These are low-paying low skill jobs that historically US citizens have been hesitant to take. To help meet the needs of farmers, the US government has a temporary worker program known as the H-2A temporary foreign agricultural worker program. However, demand far outweighs the availability of these visas. There are three million agricultural jobs that are available each year. Yet in 2007 the Department of State issued 50,791 H-2A visas. Although not a peace treaty, this agreement renouncing armed forces against one another, signed by leaders of North and South Korea 38 years after the fighting ceased, has been described as a first step toward inevitable reunification of the Korean peninsula. It reaffirms the three principles of unification set forth in the July 4, 1972, South-North Joint Communiqué. The document includes 25 articles in four chapters: South-North Reconciliation, South-North Nonaggression, South North Exchanges and Cooperation and Amendments and Effectuation.

Many family members and loved ones of recent veterans wonder how to be helpful to veterans after their deployments. Unfortunately, in the realm of human behavior, one size does not fit all. There is no guide to what to say. Veterans will have had very different experiences in war-time deployments. The nature of how they have been impacted by their experiences may take time to realize.
