Several members of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) joined other faith leaders from around the world Thursday to call for bold, ambitious decisions on the part of world leaders. Billed as the Implementation COP, these negotiations have stalled, with the consequences of inaction being dire.
Wednesday afternoon, the Rev. Jimmie Hawkins represented the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) at the White House for an ecumenical roundtable on reproductive rights. The meeting was a chance for faith leaders from several faith traditions and denominations to talk with the White House Office of Public Engagement about what they are hearing from their communities and activities they are engaged in regarding reproductive rights.
Faith leaders, including the Rev. Dr. J. Herbert Nelson, II, Stated Clerk of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), have signed a letter to President Donald Trump expressing “deep concern” over new limitations on travel by U.S. citizens to Cuba and restrictions on sending remittances to Cuban citizens.
